Charter One Rewards Programs General Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully and keep them for your records. By enrolling in the Charter One Rewards Program ("Rewards Program") at one of our branches or, if you apply over the telephone, or by using your Charter One Debit Card for the first time after applying for the Program, you agree to the terms and conditions of the Rewards Program. In this Agreement, the terms "You" and "Your" means the person who has received the Card issued by Charter One of Rhode Island and is authorized to use the Card as provided for in this Agreement. “We,” “Us,” and “Our” mean Charter One, our successors, affiliates or assigns.
Eligibility is restricted to Charter One's account holders whose accounts and cards are in good standing.
What Are Everyday Points™ and How Can You Use them?
Charter One Everyday Points are awarded in several different ways, each of which is described below. You may use your Everyday Points to redeem a variety of products and services described in our Everyday Points catalog which may be viewed at www.mcrewards.net or www.charterone.com/rewards along with the corresponding Everyday Points award balance required to redeem each item.
How Everyday Points Are Awarded
You will automatically be awarded one (1) Everyday Point for every U.S. dollar in Net Purchases made with your Charter One Debit Card. You may also earn one (1) additional Everyday Point for each U.S. dollar in qualified Recurring Payments made with your Charter One Debit Card.
- "Net Purchases" mean the total Qualifying Purchases made on your enrolled Charter One Account at a retail establishment using a Charter One Debit Card, less any returns, credits, or adjustments that are not payments.
- "Qualifying Purchase" means any signature-based purchase when you use your card as a MasterCard or any NON PIN transaction.
- Recurring Payments mean regular, prescheduled payments using your debit card. Please note that our ability to identify Recurring Payment transactions and award Everyday Points is dependant on information required to be provided to us by the Merchant or service provider as part of the transaction.
The following transactions are NOT Qualifying Purchases and therefore Points are not awarded on them: Point of Sale PIN Purchases, finance charges, other Account charges or fees, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and bank teller withdrawals, wire transfers, the purchase of money orders, cashier's checks, traveler's checks, or other negotiable instruments, foreign currency, wager or lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, payments of loans, or similar cash equivalent transactions.
Points are not awarded during any billing period in which your Charter One Account is closed by us, suspended, or otherwise in default as defined in your Personal Deposit Account Agreement. Points are awarded at the end of each billing cycle on each of your eligible Charter One Accounts. Any internet lottery, betting or gaming transactions or any illegal transactions are not eligible for Everyday Points. Transactions made using a Charter One Make-A-Difference MasterCard Debit are not eligible to earn Everyday Points.
We reserve the right to verify and adjust Everyday Points at any time. Everyday Points must be posted to your account and reflected on your periodic Account statement in order to be redeemed. For certain promotions, our ability to award Everyday Points is dependent on information required to be provided to us by the Merchant as part of the transaction. You can see your Point redemptions and balances on your periodic account statement or online at www.mcrewards.net or www.charterone.com/rewards.
Everyday Points Bonus Merchant Network
You can earn Everyday Points when you use your Charter One Debit Card as a MasterCard for purchases online, in-store, and catalog Merchants ("Bonus Merchants") within our Merchant Network. Not all Qualifying Purchases at Bonus Merchants are eligible for bonus Everyday Points (example, in-store vs. online purchases made) and Charter One does not guarantee the availability of any regular or Bonus Everyday Points. For a list of participating Bonus Merchants and associated Qualifying Purchases, please refer to the list contained herein, or logon to www.charterone.com/merchantnetwork or call us at 1-888-333-7630 (1-888-333-7580 for business customers), 9a.m. to 9p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday - Friday and 10a.m. to 7 p.m. (Eastern Time) Saturday & Sunday.
You may accumulate up to 10 Everyday Points, or such other amount that Charter One may in its sole discretion decide, for each US dollar ($1.00) spent at our Bonus Merchants. Charter One has reserved the right to change at any time, and without notice, the amount of Everyday Points it offers, as well as the terms and conditions of any qualifying purchase. Your continued enrollment in the Rewards Program thereafter will constitute acceptance of such terms and conditions. Charter One does not represent or warrant that any Bonus Merchant will participate in the Rewards Program at the time you enroll or at any time thereafter.
Everyday Points you earn as a result of Qualifying Purchases at Bonus Merchants will be posted to your Rewards Account within thirty (30) days of notice from a Bonus Merchant to Charter One of your relevant transaction. You may logon to www.mcrewards.net or www.charterone.com/rewards to display a summary of points earned through the Merchant Network. We will not be liable for damages resulting from any failure to post Everyday Points to your account in a timely manner. You acknowledge and accept that you are solely responsible for checking your account regularly to verify that Everyday Points have been properly posted. If you believe that Everyday Points have not been properly posted to your Account in accordance with this Agreement, then you must inform Charter One within one year of the qualified purchase for which you are claiming that Everyday Points should have been posted and you must be able to provide proof of such transaction acceptable to Charter One. Charter One reserves the right, however, to determine, in its sole and absolute discretion, whether Everyday Points should have been posted to your Account. You acknowledge that any such determination by Charter One will be final and binding.
You agree that Charter One is not an agent of any Bonus Merchants and that Bonus Merchants operate independently of, and are not under the control of Charter One with respect to the Rewards Program or otherwise. Accordingly, we do not represent or warrant, or give any assurances that any Bonus Merchants will provide Everyday Points for any particular transaction even where such transaction would appear to qualify for such points under either the Bonus Merchant or Charter One statements. We are not responsible for the failure of any participating Bonus Merchant to award Everyday Points in accordance with the terms of that Bonus Merchant's offer. Further, your participation in offers or promotions of, or correspondence with, any participating Bonus Merchant is solely between you and that Merchant. We do not assume any liability, obligation or responsibility for any part of any such correspondence, offer or promotion, including without limitation the withdrawal or modification of any such offer or promotion. Also, no Bonus Merchant assumes any liability, obligation or responsibility for our conduct with respect to the Program.
In our sole discretion, we may deduct Everyday Points from your Rewards Account in order to make adjustments for returns and cancellations with respect to Qualifying Purchases.
How Everyday Points are Redeemed
You must be actively enrolled in the Charter One Rewards Program in order to redeem Everyday Points. Everyday Points must be posted to your Account and reflected on a current Account statement in order to be redeemed. You hereby agree that any authorized signer on your eligible Account can redeem accumulated Everyday Points earned on the Account. We may charge a fulfillment fee when you redeem Everyday Points at levels that are set by us from time to time. To redeem your Everyday Points, logon to www.mcrewards.net or www.charterone.com/rewards or call 1-888-333-7630 (1-888-333-7580 for business customers), 9a.m. to 9p.m. (Eastern Time) Monday - Friday and 10a.m. to 7 p.m. (Eastern Time) Saturday & Sunday. All rewards are subject to availability. Points are valid for three years.
Merchandise and Gift Certificate/Card Rewards
- You may use Points to obtain merchandise that we make available in the Program (the "Merchandise Rewards") and gift certificates/cards at participating retailers (the "Gift Certificate/Card Rewards"). We may change the merchandise selection or gift certificates/cards from time to time without notice to you. To learn about our current Merchandise and Gift Certificate/Card Rewards. - If particular Merchandise is no longer available or is out of stock, we reserve the right to offer a substitute product of equal or greater value.
- You must return damaged or defective merchandise to the Merchant or manufacturer according to the Merchant's instructions to you. There are no returns, exchanges, or refunds for any Merchandise Rewards directly from Charter One.
- The manufacturer's warranty, if any, is the only warranty covering Merchandise Rewards. We make no guarantees, warranties or representations of any kind, expressed or implied, with respect to the Merchandise Rewards or the goods or services offered by any participating Merchant of a Gift Certificate/Card Reward.
- Gift Certificate/Card Rewards will not be personalized and are transferable to any person. They are not exchangeable, refundable, re-loadable, or redeemable for cash; and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Mechanical reproductions, copies, or facsimiles will not be accepted. Additional terms and conditions appearing on the gift certificate/card or otherwise imposed by the Merchant or retailer will also apply.
Other Rewards Program Terms and Conditions
You can earn up to 10,000 Everyday Points per month per card number and 100,000 Everyday Points per calendar year per card. In addition, special opportunities to earn Bonus Everyday Points may be provided and maximum point accumulation limits may apply. Your Everyday Points have NO CASH VALUE.
If you or we close your Charter One Account or terminate your participation in the Rewards Program, all Everyday Points will be forfeited even if your Charter One Account is later reopened or you re-enroll in the Program. All points earned while enrolled are immediately forfeited if the membership is canceled for any reason. Points are not transferable and cannot be bought, sold, or used as payment on your Account. Points are not your property and have no cash value until redeemed for Rewards.
Points earned using more than one Charter One Debit Card with Charter One Rewards that are tied to the same Account will accumulate on a combined basis and will appear on your monthly Account statement.
Charter One Rewards Program and benefits are offered at the sole discretion of Charter One who reserves the right to cancel, change or temporarily suspend the Program at any time without notice. Cancellation or suspension could result in the forfeiture of earned points and a change in the redemption of any outstanding rewards.
When you enroll in the Charter One Rewards Program, we may in our sole discretion, charge an annual fee.
Suppliers of Rewards are independent contractors and are not our agents. We do not offer, endorse or guarantee any of the goods or services provided as part of the Rewards. All rewards are subject to availability. Certain restrictions apply. Charter One Rewards Program is void where prohibited by federal, state, or local law.
We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions as well as fees at any time without notice. In addition, we may amend available rewards, levels of points required for a specific reward, level of points earned for purchases and eligible level of points allowed in a given period. We also reserve the right to change, delete from, or add to these Program Terms and Conditions, or to add, eliminate or change the Rewards or the number of Points needed to redeem them, or to terminate the Program entirely. We reserve the right to deny or revoke your Program eligibility at any time. We also reserve the right to disqualify any cardholder from participating in the Program and to invalidate all Everyday Points for abuse, fraud or any violation of the Program terms and conditions, at our sole discretion.
The cardholder is responsible for any personal tax liability related to participation in the Program or as a result of points earned and/or redeemed.
Charter One does not warrant the quality, Merchantability, of fitness for a particular purpose of any merchandise or service you purchase with your Everyday Points. You must address any concern or complaint directly with the Merchant and agree that Citizen Bank is not responsible in any way for such purchases. You hereby agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Charter One, third party reward providers, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, officers, directors, successors and assigns from all claims, damages or liability including but not limited to physical injury or death, arising out of participation in the Program. Further, you release us from any and all liability for any loss, expense, accident, injury or inconvenience that may arise in connection with the use or defect of any Reward or your participation in the Program.
Electronic and Oral Communications
We may rely on your oral and electronic instructions. In addition, you consent to the monitoring and recording of your telephone conversations with us for training or compliance purposes or to provide a record of your instructions. You agree that we will not be liable for honoring oral instructions received from any person claiming to be you, provided normal verification procedures have been followed. We may follow any instructions received by electronic means through the Charter One Rewards website just as if you had given such instructions in person, regardless of whether or not you have personally initiated such instructions.
You consent to the receipt of all reports, transaction confirmations, account statements, correspondence and other information from us electronically through either (i) access to your Rewards Account on the Charter One Rewards website or (ii) the email address provided by you to us. We will not be responsible for your inability to connect to the Internet or to access the Charter One Rewards website or otherwise not to receive electronic communications. Electronic communications are presumed to be delivered to and received by you when sent by us, whether actually received or not. You acknowledge that you have access to hardware and software meeting the system requirements set forth on the Charter One Rewards website necessary to receive from us correspondence and records in electronic form.
Annual Program Membership Fee
Your Charter One Rewards Annual Membership Fee is waived for first ninety (90) days ("Trial Period") following the date upon which you enroll. Unless you call customer service to cancel your membership during the Trial Period, your membership will be automatically renewed at the end of the Trial Period and a $25.00 membership fee will be automatically deducted from your Account for as long as you are a Charter One Rewards member. If you prefer, you may redeem 3,000 Everyday Points and have your first annual fee waived by simply calling 1-888-333-7630 (1-888-333-7580 for business) during the Trial Period or within 90 days of the date upon which your membership was automatically renewed. If you cancel your membership during the Trial Period, you will not be charged the membership fee for the following year. If you cancel your membership and re-enroll at a later date, you will be charged the $25 Annual Membership Fee at the time of reenrollment.
Annual Program Membership Fee Waiver
Charter One Rewards membership fee is automatically waived for all consumer Circle customers and those accounts that have recurring payments using the Charter One Debit Card or a Charter One Business Debit Card.
Governing Law
This Agreement and the Program will be governed by and construed in accordance with federal law and to the extent not preempted by federal law, the law of the state where we open your account, or, if we transfer your account to another location, where we currently maintain your account (without regard to choice of law provisions).
Experiential Rewards through Great American Days
Due to the unique and amazing nature of your activity there is limited availability and high demand. So that you can choose the dates and avoid disappointment we suggest that you schedule your activity at the earliest possible opportunity, even though this maybe many months in advance. Please do not make travel arrangements until Great American Days has confirmed your date of attendance and taken your voucher number and contact details. Scheduling: You must schedule your activity in advance. Do not arrive at the site with your Great American Days Voucher without a confirmed appointment, you may be refused entry. Please schedule the time of your activity directly with Great American Days. Once you have scheduled your activity you will be subject to the terms and conditions including those for rescheduling, cancellation and 'no-shows'. A copy of these terms and conditions can be obtained directly from Great American Days. You may be required to sign an indemnity and release forms so you should bring valid ID such as a driving license with you to your event. In the event that you are under 18 years of age, the signature of your parent or guardian will be required. If your participation is conditional upon signing an indemnity and release form and you decline to sign any document or fail to meet requirements after scheduling you will not be eligible for any refund and may not be allowed to participate in the event. Vendors also require compliance with other conditions such as, but not restricted to conduct, and failure to meet these may result in you being removed from the premises.

Tandem Skydive
After approximately 20 minutes of instruction, you and your tandem jumpmaster will ascend in the aircraft to an altitude of at least 2 miles above the skydiving drop zone. Before you exit, your jumpmaster will attach you, via a special tandem harness, to the front of the tandem parachute system that he or she is wearing. Securely connected and ready for freefall skydiving you will both exit the airplane and freefall together until you have descended to an altitude of 5000 feet. The jumpmaster will then deploy the parachute that suspends you both until you land and you will have the chance (under instruction) to guide and steer the parachute to landing. The canopy (parachute) ride will last 4-5 minutes and you'll love the panoramic bird's eye view before landing at a specially designated area of the drop zone to the cheers of watching family and friends as you complete your skydive. Jumpers must be 18 years old and weigh under 220lbs.
Stock Car Racing Ride-along 3 laps, Race Your Own Stock Car Intro Adventure, Race Your Own Stock Car Half Day Adventure, and Race Your Own Stock Car Full Day Adventure
You should wear comfortable clothing that can fit underneath a racing suit. You do not need to bring any specialized equipment as racing suits, helmets, and neck supports are provided. Please wear flat shoes, boots are prohibited. The window opening of the vehicle is approximately 15"x30" so you must be able to fit through this unaided. The minimum age to drive is 18 and all drivers must have a valid driving license. The minimum age for a Ride-along is 14. All riders and drivers must be less than 6'7", weigh less than 300lbs but be able to fill a five point racing harness. There maybe an additional charge for weekend and/or holiday dates.
Yoga Class One hour
This Yoga voucher is usually equivalent to a one hour Yoga treatment depending on the Yoga location and package you select. You should ask your chosen yoga center specific questions however we will also send you detailed instructions and guidelines with your voucher.
Scuba Diving Pool Lesson Introduction
We will take you diving in a controlled and enclosed environment to give you a taste of why this sport is so popular. This first dive experience will involve full training and safety instruction after which you will descend into the water for your dive. The whole experience will last 3-4 hours and you will receive a gift bag from the dive shop at the end of your experience. All equipment is provided so you only need bring a bathing suit and towel. Diving is a physically active sport and not suitable for everyone including but not limited to those who are pregnant, have heart or chest conditions, suffer from seizures, epilepsy and are taking certain medications. Before taking your first dive you should consult your physician.
Ski Pass (Single)
This gift certificate allows one person to get a single use all day lift ticket to over 200 ski resorts throughout North America. There are no blackout dates and no restrictions. The expiration of this voucher varies. If your voucher reaches expiration, we will happily exchange it for a new one. Individual ski resorts have their own specific restrictions and all skiers must comply with the resorts rules. These may include competency, behavior and equipment restrictions.
Ski Passes (Pair)
This gift certificate allows two skiers to each get a single use all day lift ticket to over 200 ski resorts throughout North America. There are no blackout dates and no restrictions. The expiration of this voucher varies. If your voucher reaches expiration, we will happily exchange it for a new one. Individual ski resorts have their own specific restrictions and all skiers must comply with the resorts rules. These may include competency, behavior and equipment restrictions. Skiing is a physically active sport and all participants should seek advice from a medical professional before commencing such activities.
Sports Tickets (Pair)
Use this amount towards purchase of a pair of sports tickets. Purchase of voucher does not guarantee a specific ticket to any game. Prices and availability of tickets vary per event and location and so depending on choice and notice period tickets may be unavailable or at a higher/lower price. You should book your game tickets at the earliest opportunity.
$500 Macys Personal Shopping Day
Cancellations must be made within 48 hours. Reservations must be made three weeks in advance of your tour. All travel to and from Macy's is the responsibility of reward recipient and guests. Ritz-Carlton Currency may be used for all publicly listed and available room rates and packages, but cannot be used for convention, travel industry, tour, advance purchase, catering or group room rates. They are not replaceable if lost, stolen, destroyed or expired. See reverse side of Currency for complete terms and conditions. Ritz-Carlton cheques and awards expire 15 months from date of issuance.
1 Night Hyatt® Classic Level Certificate
This voucher will be received within 3-4 weeks signature required priority mail. The voucher contains a reservation code and toll free number for you to reference when calling the voucher provider to arrange your reservation. Usage of this voucher is subject to availability with the named provider. Vouchers may not be returned once received by award recipient. Hyatt certificates expire 15 months from date of issuance.
Best Western Travel Card
The Best Western Travel Card can be used to pay for charges at more than 4,200 Best Western hotels worldwide. Travel Card is fully transferable. Not exchangeable for cash in part or other substitutions and no change will be given. Travel Card not replaced if lost, stolen or destroyed. Travel Cards do not expire. Dollar Off Domestic Ticket
All dollar-off travel award terms and conditions are based on the rules of the airline fare/ticket booked. Applicable overages are the responsibility of the cardholder at the time of reservation. Tickets must originate in the US. Electronic ticket travel itineraries will be emailed or faxed. Travel itinerary discrepancies must be reported to the Charter One Rewards center within 24 hours of the travel redemption. Changes made after 24 hours of initial reservation will incur airline penalty fees to reissue the ticket and will be the responsibility of the traveler. Tickets will be issued within 24 hours of booking and will be electronic unless itinerary requires paper ticket. Fees apply for paper ticket and trackable delivery. If available, next day, Saturday and International deliveries by courier are subject to additional shipping charges and billed to the cardholder's credit card account. A per ticketing fee in the amount of $30.00 will be charged for the issuance of domestic airline tickets, payable by the Cardholder. Applicable lost ticket application fees and/or replacement costs will be the responsibility of the Cardholder. Tickets may be purchased in any name designated by the Cardholder. Tickets are non-refundable unless requested to be booked as a refundable ticket with the airline. Lost, stolen or expired tickets cannot be replaced.
Unused tickets may contain no value if reservation is not cancelled prior to departure. Charter One and the Charter One Rewards are not responsible for the performance by the airlines of the ticketed transportation. All reservations and ticketing are subject to the conditions of carriage of the party providing the transportation, including exclusions and limitations of liability. Additional fees and restrictions may apply.
Cruise and Vacation Benefit
Present your Award Certificate Number at the time of deposit to receive credit off your final payment on your vacation. Vacation accommodations are subject to availability at the time of booking. Reservations must be made through Cruise and Vacation Benefits at 1-877-835-8748, US and Canada, or worldwide at http://www.cruiseand vacationbenefits.com/mastercard. The Award Certificate amount(s) will be credited toward the lowest available fare on the vacation of your choice, available at the time of reservation through one of our preferred vacation brands. Multiple Award Certificates will be accepted on any cruise, resort or tour fare. Certificate may not be applied towards non-commissionable, departure taxes, airfare or any other ancillary charges. Award Certificates cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, discount, coupon, promotion, voucher, certificate or letter of credit. Space is limited and certain restrictions may apply.
